“What does coexistence mean to you?
The past two years have polarized us, and we must remember to reconnect. This work aims to represent the concept of coexistence shared by more than 25 individuals from diverse cultures, generations, and genders. I asked everyone to reflect on the meaning of coexistence. For some, it was political; for others, philosophical. Sometimes it was a dialogue, other times a solitary moment. This piece reflects what I believe we should remember from this shared experience.
Through 16 speakers, words in various languages softly whisper. As they converge towards the center, they blend dialects; as they diverge, they transform into a language we comprehend (presented here in French).
With this sound installation, I transport listeners into a parallel world from the one they traverse. Recognizable and foreign sounds and words compel them to pause and contemplate. To observe and perceive. To hear or truly listen. To engage or to disregard. Each of us chooses how to navigate this shared world and exchange within it.
This composition incorporates unconventional sounds typically captured through field recordings—such as wind, glitches, and the bustling ambiance of a city—transforming our perception of familiar memories.”
